Closing the Training Gap: How NCALL’s Age-Inclusive Advocacy Video Series Helps Advocates Better Support Older Survivors

Older survivors deserve advocacy that recognizes their unique experiences and needs. Yet many advocates have limited opportunities for training on supporting older adults experiencing abuse.

NCALL is addressing this training gap through our new Age-Inclusive Advocacy video series, designed to help advocates strengthen their knowledge, build practical skills, and better support older survivors.

The series begins with foundational Key Terms videos that build a shared understanding of abuse in later life, intersectionality, ageism, and the vital role community partnerships play in supporting older adults. From there, Advocate Interviews bring these concepts to life through candid conversations with experienced professionals who share practical strategies for building trust, adapting services, practicing self-care, and creating more inclusive, survivor-centered responses. Together, these conversations offer a deeper look at how we can strengthen responses to older survivors.

We invite you to share the videos with colleagues, weave them into a training, screen at a coordinated community response meeting, or use them to spark discussion during a team meeting. However you use them, let the interviews inspire reflection, conversation, and action toward more age-inclusive advocacy.
